Mangaluru: The uppinangady police have arrested a man in connection with the damage caused by Ganapathi Katte located in Udane Parashurama Maidan.
The defendant was Ravindra Kumar, 25, who came from Bihar, and allegedly mentally unhealthy.
The police have recovered RS 50 currencies that were damaged from the place, and launched the search operation immediately after the incident was reported.
Constable Hithosh Kumar’s head and Yogaraj police police took the defendant from Addahole in Shiradi Village, and took him to the station at 7 pm on Saturday.
He was produced in front of the court, which returned it in the custody of the judiciary.
Vikram, an autorickshaw driver, claimed that Kumar had thrown a stone to him.
The police said that the defendant was used to throw stones into vehicles, statues and temples.
He has made several similar efforts in the past.
He is also used to destroying currency records, police said.
In complaints, Balakrishna, President Udane Ganeshotsava Samiti, stated that criminals were allegedly damaging the steps and walls of Ganapathi Katte.
The incident was said to have occurred between 17:30 on Friday and 8 in the morning on Saturday.
