Hyderabad: From Sunday and so on, passengers who come from non-risk countries will also be detained at Hyderabad Airport until their RT-PCR report is in, the health authority said.
So far, about two percent of international passengers originating from non-risk countries are chosen by the health control team at the airport and samples taken for RT-PCR tests, according to central guidelines.
Passengers are allowed to go home or proceed to a liaison flight without having to wait for the results.
“But this caused a lot of difficulties to track them after they tested the positive RT-PCR and especially when they were tested positive for the omicron variant.
This has been a time-consuming process.
Therefore, we have decided that passengers will be held at the airport themselves up The results of the entry, “said Dr.
G Srinivasa Rao, Director of Public Health, Telangana.
“If they test positively, they will be taken to institutional quarantine or they will be sent home and monitored,” he added.
During the past two weeks, the search and tracking of positive passengers RT-PCR became a big headache for the state government because many had taken action disappeared.
Some passengers gave the wrong telephone number, the wrong address and many others had turned off the cellphone when the supervision team tried to contact them later.
It also leads to a scenario where the search for several passengers takes over three to four days and health authorities must tie the police to arrest the passengers.
Also the contact contacts have become increasingly difficult for officials because many continue to deny after meeting anyone after they return.
However, all passengers who come from non-risk countries will not be detained.
“It will only be two percent of passengers chosen randomly.
At Hyderabad airports about 250 passengers will be tested every day,” Director of the Public Health State informs.
