PANAJI: TMC on Tuesday said that, if it formed a government in Goa, it would adopt a recommendation from the Central Empowerment Committee of the Supreme Court to cancel the Double Railway South Double tracking project and the Goa-Tamnar power transmission project.
The party said that it supported NH 4 widening, but would explore sustainable options.
“Three linear projects through Mollem are approved by passing several environmental guidelines, including the wrong EIA report,” said Kortalim candidate TMC Mariano Rodrigues.
He said that TMC believed that the projects would “bring in havoc in a rich biodiversity of goa” and that steps need to be taken to maintain and protect cave forests.
He also said that the Mini India Park project in Quelossim will be deleted.
“BJP has contrary to the interests of the people by implementing these projects.
From a double tracking project with a lack of basic facilities in the solid Zuarinagar area, to the Mini Indian Park project, Goa TMC will take the necessary actions to protect the environment and stand with people exposed to Kortalim who have struggled for years, “he said.
Rodrigues said that Kortalim’s constituency had seen the highest registration for the proposed TMC scheme.
UP North, in the constituency of Cumbharjua, TMC has promised to improve a damaged bundle that affects the Divar villages, ST Estevam (JUA) and Cumbharjua if it forms a government in the country.
“During the rainy season, the entrance to the villages of Divar, Vanxim, St.
Estevam, Dauji, and other lowland areas will be flooded.
People cannot travel and ferries cannot be docked because water flows on the road, the dock and bund, “Cumbharjua TMC Samil Volvoikar candidate said.
