Guwahati: IIT-Guwahati (IIT-G) has ended students accused of raping fellow students, stating that the actions of “gross dissipline” carried out by the defendant, violating the code of ethics, “must be truly handled” by the Institute.
The IIT-G senate unanimously in their decision to give a sentence that should be alleged to the defendant because the Institute will not compromise with the salvation of women on campus.
On April 3, the police had arrested a 21-year-old IIT-G student for allegedly “attacking sexual” a contemporary female student from the Institute on March 28.
Next, the defendant was suspended by the authorities.
Citing that he was a talented student and future assets for the country, the previous Gautati High Court had provided guarantees to the defendant and stated that there was no possibility he damaged the evidence.
At the same time the court argued that there was a major facie case against the defendant.
This case trial is scheduled in a lower court on Friday.
On September 6, in the presence of the IIT-G Director TG Sitharam, the Senate Special Meeting was held where it was decided that the final recommendation for the Student Discipline Committee (SDC), which was held on September 3, for the cessation of the Defendant’s students from the Institute will be approved by the direct effect .
“The Senate enforces SDC’s recommendations to stop rape students accused of the Institute with direct effects,” Minutes of Reading Meetings.
“The Dean of Students Affairs (Sin) told the Senate that students have been guaranteed by the Gahati High Court on August 13.
The court in the Order stated that there was a clear case of the Facie Prima to the applicant and the investigation of this case was completed,” the report said.
Sin updates the Senate on the final recommendation of the Student Discipline Committee (SDC) meeting, which was held on September 3, to stop students from the Institute with the direct effect.
