Hyderabad: India Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IIT-H) will offer three new industrial-oriented BTECH programs in biotechnology and bioinformatics, industrial computing and chemical techniques from the academic year 2021-22.
The BTECH curriculum in three new programs provides opportunities for students to take courses from all branches of science, viz, mathematics, physics, and chemistry in the first two semesters.
In the sixth semester, students can choose semester-long projects that provide the opportunity to work & get experience in Biotech, Pharma, Manufacturing, IT, data analysis, chem informatics and for gradual transitions to full-time work.

“Curriculum for BTECH in biotechnology and bioinformatics is designed to train students with bioinformatics skills in demand, including artificial intelligence and soft computing, web technology, structural biology, biological data mining, image processing, biological and biostatistic systems ensure complete industrial readiness from the Students, “said Prof.

Apart from a special curriculum designed for three programs, students will also have the opportunity to increase their depth in the subject by conducting elective courses from any other department.
They can pursue minor in their field of interest, outside the department, such as entrepreneurship, computer science, etc., by completing 12 additional credits in the area.
“BTECH in industrial chemistry will have a special emphasis on producing the best graduate students with adequate knowledge of chemistry and applied technology to work in various industries such as Pharma and drug design, industrial polymer, environment and petrochemical energy, etc.,” Prof.
