IIT-K signed a mous with two alumni to support SMRT infrastructure

Times News Network Kanpur: Institute of Technology India – Announced the signing of a mouse with two alumni, Dr.
Dev Joneja and Hemant Road to support the formation of the School of Research and Medical Technology (SMRT) on campus.
Dr.
Dev Joneja and his wife Terri Musson contributed a total of US $ 2.5 million in the form of ‘Terri Musson and Dev Joneja Gift’, while Hemant Road contributed RS 18 Crores to support infrastructure development for SMRT.
Both alumni will join the SMRT Advisory Board as a founding donor.
Director, Iit-Kanpur, professor Abhay Karandikar said, “We are very proud of our alumni and their work.
I want to thank Dr.
Dev Joneja, Hemant Road and their families because of their generous contributions and not selfish with SMRT and Being part of this noble journey towards revolutionizing medical education in India.
“SMRT is the only initiative by IIT-Kanpur aimed at revolutionizing medical education in India by bridging the gap between medical science and technology disciplines.
The first phase of this project will include settings of various centers of excellence (COE) which are expected to work in meetings with the core clinical department of hospitals and biomedical expertise of various IIT-K engineering departments.
The school will offer a medical degree of PG in various domains.

Dev Joneja said, “The SMRT initiative was a great combination of established core strength IIT in technology with new directions in medical research, education and innovation.
My wife Terri and I am sure that the Institute and its leadership will provide an ambitious project, and very grateful for Can provide our support for this effort.
“” I always want to give back to IIT-K in a meaningful way, and the concept of SMRT is very interesting to me.
I hope that the SMRT initiative will raise the stature of IIT-K in the scientific community, and I am very Happy to be associated with this project as a founder.

Dr.
Joneja obtained a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering in 1984 from the IIT-K and at this time was a risky risk officer in the capital management of Point Exodus, while Hemant Road received a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Iit-Kanpur in 1977.
The road established Indigo Paints on In 2000, which grew multi-fold for years.
