Nagpur: Even after fixing an average of 35 holes per day by 2021, the streets in the city remain a mess.
In accordance with the data department of Hotmix Hotmix Nagpur Corporation, all 10 zones have cumulatively report 11,846 holes throughout the city and the department is repaired 12,721 (875 more than reporting).
Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), Nagpur Everbent Trust (NIT) and two private institutions claimed to have fixed a hole spread in 1.71,382.44 square meters (or equivalent to 42.35 hectares) in 2021, the data obtained from the Hotmix Department disclose.
By 2021, the department repaired 7,863 holes in the city limits.
With the help of Nagpur repair Trust, NMC has fixed 1,161 holes from October 29 to December 3 last year.
Likewise with the help of two personal agents – Jet Patcher machines and Patcher Road Insta, NMC claimed to have fixed 3,697 holes in all 10 zones.
Through Insta Road Patcher, NMC has fixed 2,040 holes throughout the city.
The highest number of repaired holes is below the Ashi Nagar zone.
Here NMC is done patchwork at 1,863 places.
This was followed by the Mangalwari zone (1,748) and lakadganj zone (1,114).
Even after announcing in a meeting of public bodies that all holes in the city road will be repaired at the end of December, NMC has failed to ensure the Pothole freeway to the tax payer because many areas are still left with the crater.
Toi traveled around the city and found that not only in the outside area, but even on the streets of Tony’s civil lines were in poor condition.
Every year, NMC spends large amounts on road repairs and maintenance, but there seems to be a little or no accountability, given the pathetic state of the road, said the source.
The Civic body has given RS41 crore sanctions for all 10 zones to fill and repair holes and spend more than 50% of allocated funds.
However, there is still no guarantee that city streets will be free from holes.
According to NMC officials, the Civic body does pre-monsoon work.
One of the main problems is that vehicles are overloaded.
This is one reason why the road is in bad conditions, they said.
