With a dose of 5.3 lakh given in the last 25 days – around 73,000 doses in the last week only – Dakshina Kannada steamed to achieve 100% first dose vaccination coverage in the district.
More than 15 lakh or 84% of the total 18 target populations of Lakh have received the first dose and 6.3 lakh people are fully inspired (both doses).
At the current speed, district authorities believe they will likely cover the entire population (100%) under the first dose in two or three weeks.
“Drive mega vaccination on September 17 and a weld on Wednesday, has helped increase overall vaccination penetration,” said Dr.
BV Rajesh, reproductive child reproductive officers (RCH), Dakshina Kannada.
“We gave 1.4 lakh vaccine doses during mega vaccination drive and there was a Mela vaccine every Wednesday.
We have given nearly 30,000 doses on Wednesday welding.
We have reached 100% of the first dose coverage in two categories: people over 60 years, and Front line workers fight against a pandemic.
“He said 97% of beneficiaries in the age group 45-59 had taken the first dose, and 55% of them also received a second dose.
“Similarly, in the category of Healthcare officers, 97% of them have received the first dose, and 69% of them have taken the second dose.
This district has also managed the first dose to 70% of the target population in the 18-44 year group,” he said .
He said the last achievement was significant considering the drive vaccination was expanded to the 18-44 category in the district only in May.
