Silchar: Krakatatth Mall, BJP MP from Karimanj, on Wednesday mark the problem of train connectivity between Assam’s Barak Valley and Mizoram in Parliament and demanded the formation of the second train link with a neighboring country by expanding the Broadgagger line from Dousabcherra District Karimuang to Jamuang near the border Assam- Mizoram.
At present, Mizoram only has train connectivity from Silchar Assam to Bairabi in a bordering country.
The mall told parliament that commuter from Assam and Mizoram had benefited after the Silchar-Bhairabi train service began and that people from both countries would benefit more if the train service began between Dullabcherra and Jamuang.
MP also pitched to start a passenger train from Silchar to Karimganj through Dullabcherra.
It can be mentioned that the former minister of the train and now West Bengal cm Mamata Banerjee has gave a green signal to the Dulbabcherra-Jamuang train service in connection with a former member of the Congress Parliament from Karimganj Lalit Mohan Suklabaidya when the government UPA ruled in the middle.
However, this project could not be realized because of the problem related to funds at that time.
Land-related formalities have been completed for the project.
It is hoped that the project will begin as soon as the government allocates the funds needed for the same thing.
The Northeast Frontier Railway is executing the new train line project Bairabi-Sairang in Mizoram.
The train ministry plans to complete the project in March 2023.
