In Tiruvallur, Helpline to report about wild livestock

Chennai: Bored with the people who handed their livestock on the streets, who have claimed the life of 17 people in an accident on the road in Tiruvallur, the district police have launched Helpline to help people report about lost livestock.
The police also confiscated wild animals, in addition to booking and punishing their owners.
Drivers have been asked to file complaints along with photos if they find loose livestock and send them to telephone numbers (63799 04848).
According to the police, wild animals block the road and are the main causes of the ring and traffic accidents.
Some were issued by the owner at night, and they returned home at Fajar.
Authorities say that livestock concluded will be sent to the designated shelter and their maintenance must be borne by livestock owners.
In the case of the owner failed to bear the costs, their livestock would be auctioned.
“This is a joint effort with collectors and other government institutions, to begin actions on those who free their livestock on the streets.
It will be confiscated, and the owner must bear all costs and face legal action,” said Tiruvallur SP Varun Kumar.
Tiruvalur Collector, Alby John said the special team had been deployed to remember wild livestock and confiscated them in the area including, Tirutter, Uthukottai, Gumneri and Ponneri.
In accordance with the existing provisions, the police will order the wrong livestock owner below the part 289 IPC (negligent behavior in connection with animals) and section 11 in preventing cruelty on animal laws, 1960, and 5,000 will be collected as a penalty.
