Vadodara: Even when the city wrestles with dengue cases and fear of the third wave of Covid-19, the swine flu case has begun to appear.
One person also lost his life because of the virus flu.
Public health officials in the city were very relieved when almost no swine flu cases were reported last year.
This has ensured that such patients did not occupy the bed needed desperately for Covid-19 patients.
While swine flu did not spread extensively and quickly like Covid-19, the source said that the mortality rate was due to higher flu compared to Covid-19.
In 2019, some deaths associated with flu had triggered one line.
But the ‘official’ data is now available shows that only nine people from 441 were tested positively died.
VMC sources said that death data was confirmed by the state government after death audit.
Just like Covid-19, the death of some swine flu patients that occur mainly for other reasons removed from official data.
However, the number of cases this year is not considered worrying by the Civic body.
“This has become an endemic disease now and cases can continue to appear,” said the VMC (health) medical officer Dr.
Devesh Patel.
