Kottayam: Alappuzha City Revenue Inspector was held by the Bureau of Preca and Anti-Corruption (VACB) while accepting bribes of Rs 2,000 on Wednesday.
Jayaraj KK was arrested while accepting bribes from Vinod, Muhammad’s native in the Alappuzha District.
Vinod has sent applications last month to issue a certificate of ownership for the property owned by his wife.
Vinod has given a bribe of Rs 500 to the Inspector (RI) to check the place after he refused to do inspections.
RI, after visiting the property, demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 to issue a certificate.
Vinod told the officer that it would be difficult for him to raise the number of bribes and begged him to reduce the number.
After a lot of bargaining, the clerk insisted that he had to get at least Rs 2,000.
Vinod informed this to V Shyam Kumar, DSP Alappuzha unit from alertness.
A team led by him put a trap for corrupt officers.
Officers were held while accepting bribes of Rs 2,000 from Vinod in place of Alappuzha City around 4 pm on Wednesday.
Allegations will be presented before the Thrissur alert court.
