Mysuru: Mysuru Medical College and Head of the Department of the Pediatric Institute and Professor Mr.
Savitha on Tuesday emphasized the need to be careful about the risk of Delta variant posing for the health of children under 12 years.
Children infected with the Delta variant of infection need immediate care, said the professor addressed the workshop held for the number of elected levels and representatives.
The workshop held at the Mukthagangothri Auditorium on the KSOU campus in MySuru aims to educate officers on effective ways to deal with third waves and maintain infection in the bay.
Parents and guardians must be aware of the Covid variant so they can provide care of their children to see changes in their health during a pandemic.
There is an increase in the number of relative Delta variants.
Experts have said it is expected to increase during the third wave that might infect more children.
Savitha told workshops that 12 children, including newborns were infected with Virt Varian Delta, treated at the Cheluvamba hospital during the first and second virus waves.
The amount can increase during the third wave, he said.
About 52 children develop multisystem inflammatory syndrome (MIS-C), even though they only have a mild disease.
The professor claimed this syndrome was found in 5% of children in the first wave and rose to 12% in the second wave.
There are concerns that the image can increase up to 20% in the next virus wave.
Repeated blood tests for children who develop syndrome are a must to completely override infection on them even if the RTPCR results are negative.
Savitha felt the need to improve telephoto counseling facilities to analyze infection and treat children in house isolation and give trust in parents.
“We have seen many parents and guardians lose cool after children test the positive virus for Covid,” he added.
