New York: The Indian government has been grateful to the New York District Prosecutor’s Office for “excellent support” in returning more than 150 antiques to the country and appreciate their role to improve community-to-people’s relationships and understanding of Indonesian culture through the restitution of artifacts valuable.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi brought back 157 artifacts and antiques, which was handed over to India by the US during his visit, with him and President Joe Biden expressed commitment to strengthen theft efforts, trade cultural objects.
While almost half of the artifacts (71) are cultures, the other half consists of statues relating to Hinduism (60), Buddhism (16) and Jainism (9), said an official statement on Saturday.
Modi expressed his appreciation for repatriation of antiques to India by the United States.
