New Delhi: decorated with Indian Boxer women and Olympian Sarjubala Devi have decided to enter the professional arena and have signed an agreement with promoter leading Indian boxing mujtaba kamal and promotion and grassroots boxing management in imphal.
Manipuri is 28 years old, a silver medalist in the 2014 AIBA World Boxing Championship in Korea and the former young Boxing gold medalist, will make his professional boxing debut on February 26 in Dubai.
Sarjubala is also a national champion four times, has represented India in many international tournaments and has won a medal in almost all competitions he has followed.
He was ranked second in 2014 in the heavy category.
The Mujtaba company currently manages several Indian professional boxers such as Sabari J (Current WBC India Champion), Karthik S (WBC Asian Silver Winner), Faizan Anwar, Lalrinsanga Tlau (WBC Youth World Champion), Asif Asif, Gurpreet Singh and several other boxers.
The press conference was attended by P Doungel, Director General of Police, Manipur.
Mujtaba said that he was happy to have added sensational boxing talent to stable.
“Today marks a significant day for our sport with news that Sarjubala joins a professional rating,” he said.
“He is one of the best known Indian women’s amateur boxers of all time and public figures in Manipur.” The President of the Indian Boxing Council, Brigadier PK Muralidaran King said: “Sarjubala is an extraordinary boxer and this is good news for him and all fans who have followed his extraordinary career.” The family career and background has become an inspiration for young people.
