Apple slowly moves from the lightning port to USB Type-C for Mac and iPad.
But there is no word when the iPhone will eventually get it.
With the launch of the new iPhone 13 series, Apple replaces the type-A port (USB standard) with type-C at the other end of the lightning charging cable.
We can expect Apple to adopt type-C in the long run, especially with the European Commission forcing smartphone brands to move to a common type-C charging port.
While we waited for Apple to make a shift, an engineer named Ken Pillonel showed down how he put the USB Type-C port on the iPhone X.
In the video posted on YouTube, Pillonel revealed the functioning iphone-C port.
Pillonel Reverse Engineering Connector C94 and makes changes to the PCB board to make Type-C port serves for charging and data transfer.
He showed it that it would be easy enough for Apple to make changes on the iPhone in the future but then all about Apple’s intention.
While Pillonel makes a shift to the type-C port on the iPhone X sound easy, note that it has the right knowledge and skills in electronics.
So, it’s not recommended that you try it on your iPhone.
Also, remember making such changes will make your iPhone lose the warranty.
Meanwhile, for those who do not realize, the European Commission has made it mandatory for smartphone brands and other electronic manufacturers to launch products with general charging ports and they have chosen type-C USB ports for the same thing.
Now, it will be interesting to see how Apple responds.
It can make an iPhone model with USB Type-C exclusively for the European market or maybe just throw the lightning port at all and just adopt type-c port.
