New Delhi: International Solar Alliance (ISA) on Friday said that it would provide assistance of up to $ 50,000 to 11 member countries for demonstrative solar energy projects.
Detailed Project Report (DPRS) of 11 ISA member countries namely Comoros, Ethiopia, Fiji, Guyana, Jamaica, Kiribati, Malawi, Senegal, Togo, Tonga, and Niger have been officially approved by Ajay Mathur, Director General.
The formal signing ceremony was held by ISA in the fourth General Assembly held from October 18-21.
“Isa will provide a grant of up to $ 50,000 for the most advanced countries (LDCs) and small island members (SID) countries to demonstrate the solar project,” said a statement.
Among other things, the initiative of solar demonstration projects aims to provide technical and financial support to LDC and SIDS ISA member countries to implement demonstration projects and support resilience development in the main sectors such as agriculture and health in the background of the Covid crisis.
“ISA continues to see the way and the means to support the socio-economic goals of our member countries.
This grant reflects our commitment to accelerated solarization.
Projects supported through this grant will also help identify modifications in national policies and processes Who will do it, enable quick replication, “Mathur said.
Like the date, the expression of interest for solar demonstration projects in the initiative of 27 member countries has been received, and 77 bilateral meetings are held with member countries to discuss initiatives and assistance to provide clarification and assistance to develop DPRS.
Seven member countries – Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Fiji, Senegal, and Sudan – have chosen the implementation of the demonstration project by ISA.
These projects will be implemented through NTPC, which is the ISA project management consultation.
In addition, 13 members have chosen to direct implementation.
