The decision to contribute vaccines was taken today in a discussion involving the office of the Prime Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Health.
In recent months, the state of Israel has strengthened its relationship with African continental countries, including the return of observer status in the organization for the African Union.
This significant vaccine donation, which will reach almost a quarter of the continental country, will contribute to strengthening the bonds between Israel and these countries.
Covax is a global vaccine distribution mechanism based in Geneva, for the procurement and distribution of a fair Corona vaccine.
This mechanism is a product of extraordinary global cooperation and for many developing countries this mechanism is the only way to get a vaccine.
The Covax mechanism also ensures that vaccines reach countries that can use it.
Foreign Minister Yair Lapid said, “Israeli countries joined international efforts to vaccinate the population that did not have access to vaccines.
