Gurgaon: They came, they were gasping, they made several plans, they took their selfies, they had their groupfies.
And they got their jab.
The launch of the Covid vaccine for the age group 15-17 saw teenagers ready for their next big career steps – some waiting to write board exams, some to enter college and some looking to go abroad – out in large quantities of their guarantees need.
In those centers, especially those established in their own school, the mood was windy when young people queued, many of them gathered with friends or chaperoned by parents.
Familiarity helps alleviate any mistakes about vaccines.
There is enough samosa, cup tea and ear steaming buzzing with chat from friends to divert your mind.
Abhigyan Singh who was seventeen years old, a class XII student at the Colonel Central Academy, really wanted to get his first covaxin dose on Monday.
“My parents were initially worried, but our teacher convinced them.
I really want to take Jab because our training classes have continued offline teaching and I don’t want to be abandoned,” he said.
Meet his friends, he said, even if for some time, “fun”.
Knowing they will complete their vaccination schedule when the council test is held also a big relief, Abhigyan said.
“This is a big psychological relief for us and our parents.
That’s why you find everyone cheerful and have fun,” he added.
In space with a big meeting of teenagers, could it be the other? A smile contagious must make Ravinder Kumar, parents too.
“It’s like a picnic.
When my wife and I got vaccinated, we were nervous.
Fortunately, our children don’t have to face the rush and chaos.
We really appreciate that the school turns it into a lightweight activity,” Kumar said.
Parents say half of their worries disappear when the school declares keenness to be appointed as the center of itself for vaccination drive.
“The fact that my daughter could get a vaccine in her own school place came as a big relief for me.
We trusted school authorities and it was much better than visiting crowded phCs,” Suman Lamba, a 17-year-old mother of Khushi, a 12th grade student at school General DAV in Sector 14, said.
From separate entries and out to a special observation room, most of the school has compiled a complicated mechanism to avoid density in their place while leaving the room for the post-vaccinated 30 minute observation period.
At DAV School, the government has allocated a 60-minute slot, allowing only 15 students in the hour.
“We allocate a clock slot to students and only invite batches 12-15 students so there is no density.
We have trained our staff in the registration process to minimize the hassle for parents.
While there is a separate seating area for parents, three observation spaces arranged For students where they were made to wait at least half an hour after Jab, “said the Principal of Dav Aparna Erry.
To streamline the process, some schools have called students from 10:30 a.m.
and so on, not at 10 am when the drive is scheduled to begin.
While each school has an upper limit of 100 jabs on the first day, almost all of them have spent their quota at 2pm.
However, it’s not just Jab.
The excitement of meeting friends after the gap is also palpable among students.
In most of the center, students look hungdling for one or two selfies, while parents sip hot drinks and enjoy samosa.
The whole atmosphere was light and pleasant, said Director of Public School Drona Nith Bharadwaj.
“We arrange vaccination drives at the Assembly Hall.
After being inoculated, students along with their parents are directed to move to the ground.
To see the yard and assembly of our halls to be alive with banter truly heating, but we sometimes remind students Not too close and keep their masks, “he said.
