‘Ram Lakhan’ (1989) was over 33 years, a few days ago.
We were on Etimes following Jackie Shroff (Ram ‘Ram Lakhan’).
Quotes from conversations that occur:
In a recent interview, Mr.
Subhash Ghai (maker ‘Ram Lakhan’) commemorated ‘Ram Lakhan’ and revealed that he did not have the script when he began to shoot for it …
Well, he is a master game.
He is even now.
So what if he doesn’t have a script? I only followed him – Jaise Ball acting Karo, Haise Kiya.
Have you ever seen his latest ’36 ‘farmhouse’?
No, but I’ll do it.
I want to see it in my farmhouse (at Lonavla), with him by my side.
And, I will ask him why he didn’t throw me in it (laugh).
Do you remember that when ‘Ram Lakhan’ was first offered to you?
It’s kind of mandatory that I will do one film with Subhashji every year.
So, it is one of it.
And, I did not ask questions when Subhash Ji asked me to do a film.
I think everything I know when I start ‘Ram Lakhan’ is that it is the story of two men.
Some people feel that ‘Ram Lakhan’ is Mr Ghai’s best work.
But there are schools that are strong that it is ‘karz’.
Do you take this?
Frankly, someone should not judge the film Subhash Ghai in the order of any preferences.
They are all healthy entertainment, which has repeated values even today.
All the films, directly from ‘KaliCharan’ have everything – comedy, emotions, songs, dialogue …
kya nahin tha?
You and a leading woman in ‘Ram Lakhan’ – Dimple Kapadia – Sharing a great bond of respect, until now …
We share respect from the days of ‘God Rakha’ (1986).
Dample Ji is an icon of his first film (‘Bobby’).
For me to work with it is a very big thing.
I have never imagined in my wildest dream that one day I will sing songs and do film scenes with him.
What was prominent for me as far as Dimpleji was an extraordinary way he treated his junior.
Your mind, I am nobody at that time and he is ‘Dimple Bu’ or ‘The Limpy Kapadia’.
You and Anil Kapoor create magic on the screen in many films, besides ‘Ram Lakhan’ …
Anyil and I have very special friendship, prefer to have it even now.
I have respect and affection for him and his family.
My relationship with him can be defined in two words: ‘Not Malice’.
As far as my initial memories with him left, I remember he came to the Napean Sea Road to meet Sunita (who was his wife today).
We used to hang out together; I used to be on a bicycle with my friends and he would sometimes join.
Once, he took my trousers when he did ‘Masha’.
I have never had an ego, no now.
I have never bothered whether I got the top bill or what other actors did in the credit title.
I have never bothered how long my role is.
Not only with annealing, this applies to anyone I’ve ever done.
Anil is my older brother in real life and often younger brother in the reel life.
In the same interview I called before, Mr.
Ghai touched the point that the hero currently avoided 2 or 3-hero films (although not in this right words).
Why this happened?
Well, we saw Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh in ‘Soororiavanshi’ recently, right? So, those days will return.
Wait and watch.
Ghai music always treats …
Well, he will come back.
He has put his legs back in the industry and I’m sure you will see more of all that.
Why don’t today’s films have good music?
It’s all about changing time.
There are music around us who might not like.
But it’s not a benchmark to judge that today’s music is bad.
If ‘Ram Lakhan’ is made again, who do you want to see as RAM and Lakhan?
Well, if it’s remade, it must be made back with me and annealed.
We haven’t changed!
