Jaipur: Jaipur Rural Police on Sunday arrested 17 people in connection with violence and combustion that occurred in Madhorajpura Village in Phagi.
SP (rustic) Shankar Dutt Sharma said some workers from a sand royalty company had beaten local and kidnapped others on Friday night.
On Saturday when the locals knew the incident, they decided to hit the workers again.
Sharma said some people involved in illegal transportation sand also triggered local residents because they attacked a house where workers remained.
They burned vehicles and beat the workers.
When the two groups collided with each other, a team of eight police stations was sent to calm local residents.
Senior DSP Ashok Chauhan is sent to the area to prevent further escalation in tension.
“We have filed three separate firs for violence.
The 200 personnel police team was also deployed in place,” Sharma said, adding three vehicles was also exacerbated during the crackdown of people who experienced violence.
“We have formed another team that is solely assigned to the mandate to arrest all suspects who provoke and participate in clashes,” Sharma said.
While the senior DSP was investigating this case, the police said that sand royalty workers were allegedly attacking local residents who triggered a series of angry retaliation and responses.
