Jaipur: Domestic assistance was sedated by two other houses helped and escaped with money and valuable items worth several lakh from the house of a leading industrialist at King Park on Wednesday night.
Additional DCP (East) Rajrishi Raj Varma said Sangita Thora’s domestic assistance was the main accusation in this case.
“Thora has recently been employed by a family through the placement agent based in New Delhi,” he said, adding that the house belonged to Virendra Jain’s businessman from Oswal Group.
Police said the family had gone to Ludhiana to attend a function.
Thapa and two other housemaids were sleeping in the house when he allegedly forced him to inhale several types of intoxicating chemicals.
“Two helper, a man and woman, fell unconscious.
They have shifted to the SMS hospital where they underwent treatment,” Varma said.
The police suspect that besides thora, the other three are part of theft.
On Thursday morning, the neighbors found that something was wrong and seeks the help of Adarsh Nagar police.
The police and locals opened the door and found two people lying on the floor.
“Whether they are sedated or forced to breathe something because they fall unconscious, while thora and three servants wear cash and valuables into the bag and run away,” said an officer.
The police checked the recording of several CCTV which showed two men left the house carrying a backpack.
Another clip shows two masked women departing from the same exit after a few minutes.
The source in Jaipur police suspects the involvement of other women who have worked at the previous house.
“The possibility of Thapa has colluded with the help of the former who works in the same house.
We tried to examine the antecedents,” an official provides information about the provisions of anonymity.
Meanwhile, Varma said that the two domestic workers had not regained consciousness.
“We have a full description of thora.
He will soon be arrested along with his aides,” he said.
Based on CCTV recording and the description of Thapa, Adarsh Nagar police told other stations in the city.
The family returned from Ludhiana after police told them about the incident.
Additional Commissioner of Police (crime) Ajay Pal Lamba said the value of stolen goods from the house could be several lakh.
However, the police were waiting for the family to arrive to make sure the items were stolen by thora.
The police also said they checked whether the verification was exactly done before Thapa was hired.
“The placement agency that provided domestic assistance was based on New Delhi.
We do not know whether Thapa has a local connection that might arrange work at home because of the only reason to steal money,” the officer said.
