Vadodara: After a gap of more than a year, the largest Dairy Cooperative Council countries – Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) – has been appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Jayen Mehta, who served as Chief General Manager (CGM), has been promoted as COO of the largest food products marketing organization which markets brand Amul India.
In the hierarchy of GCMMF, COO post is located next to the managing director (MD).
Currently, R S Sodhi GCMMF functioning as MD at the annual brand sales turnover was at Rs 53,000 crore (US $ 7 billion).
Sodhi who has taken over as MD in 2010, has completed two terms of five years each.
After his second term ended in December 2020, members of the Board have given Sodhi extension “until the next appointment is made”.
Sources said that the council GCMMF unanimously took the decision to promote Mehta for 31 of January.

“After Km Jhala, former COO of us, retirement, his post was lying vacant.
We unanimously clean up proposals to promote Jayen as COO,” said Humbal.
In November 2015, Jhala, who served as CGM, promoted as COO, but the post was lying vacant since he reached retirement.
“This decision will reduce the burden on the MD,” he said, and added the promise it would also clear the way for the federation to initiate the process of appointing a new MD.
Jayen Amul has been associated with over the last 31 years.
He has served as MD Amul Dairy, Anand from April-September 2018 and currently is a candidate for the board GCMMF in Mehsana, Sabarkantha, United Banesttha, Panchmahal and Valsad, all members of the Federation.
