Patna: The JD (U) is preparing to hold a Mega rally in Manipur on December 18 in an effort to revive its presence in the northeastern state ahead of the assembly election in 2022.
“This party has planned a Mega rally on December 18 in the East District Imphal ahead of 2022 Pollising polls likely to be held in March next year, “said JD (U) Manipur of the State President of Hangkhanpao Taithul Toi by telephone on Tuesday.
“Like the pending harvest season this year in Manipur will be more December 15 and there will be a celebration season ahead of Christmas, the party hopes that the massive voters in the rally are led by our national president Rajiv Ranjan Singh, aka Lalan Singh,” said Taithul.
JD (U), during the day Samata Party, has won two and one seat assembly in Manipur in 1995 and 2000 polls, respectively.
Samata Party Radhabinod Koijam even Minister Manipur for a brief tenure in February 2001.
His government, however, fell in May of the same year.
JD (U) does not have MLA throughout the Northeast region, except one in Arunachal Pradesh.
This party has won seven of the 15 seats contested in the 2019 Election Assembly Arunachal Pradesh to emerge as the second largest party after BJP, which has 41 seats.
However, six mlalas turned to BJP in December, 2020.
Previously, in June 2019 JD (U) ‘s single in Nagaland, G Kaito Aye, joined the ruling nationalist Progressive Democratic Party (NDPP).
“In such a scenario, Manipur’s selection is very important for JD (U).
We strive to revive the party in the northeastern state of becoming a national party, “said Taithul.
JD (U) National Secretary General and the party was charged for the northeastern state, Afaque Ahmad Khan, and who was the Chairperson of the Northgal Executive Board, N S N Lotha, visited Manipur on November 17 to review the party’s preparation for the rally proposed on December 18.
