Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada District Administration is considering buying or renting a ski jet and drone, to monitor illegal sand mining.
Deputy Commissioner K V Rajendra said that they had received several complaints about illegal sand mining.
“District administration requires drones to keep tabs on illegal sand mining, especially in places that cannot be easily accessible and quickly.
It often happens that at receipt of information, and when the team reaches the place, criminals fled through alternative routes.
They have an informant on the side of the road, and therefore easily escaped to pay attention to officials who came to carry out attacks.
Often, officials only seize ships used for illegal sand mining, and make them to the beach are another challenge, “DC said.
“Therefore, we have decided to increase supervision on the side of the river.
Drones and fast boats or ski jets will be employed or purchased, to curb illegal sand mining, “he said last week, reacting to complaints about rampant illegal mines in Dakshina Kannada, DC told officials at the meeting, to conduct a joint survey of checking whether the mine functions legally, and request the income department to use drones to find stone mine and destroyer.
High pole lights to be installed on the beach through the District Tourism Committee, the administration is considering a high pole lamp.
Rajendra said that six beaches stretched, including someshwara, batapady, Tannirbhavi, Pantambur, Suratshalkal-Iddya and Askinllu have been identified to install high pole lights.
Based on available funds, in the first phase, administration hopes to have at least one high pole lamp on each beach.
The tourism department official has been asked to submit the same report, DC said, adding that there should be no dark places on any beach in the district.
This problem has been discussed during the district tourism committee meeting, with selected representatives.
“We want all the beaches in the district to light up well, so the beach can be used starting at 19:00 to 11pm gradually,” he said.
