Ranchi: Ranchi police have arrested five people in connection with the murder of Kalu Lamba at Morhabadi Ground on January 27, police said on Monday.
The person arrested was identified as Gyan Ranjan, Sandeep Kumar, Sonu Kurieshi, Ravish Bhardwaj and Bittu Khan.
Bicycles, two-wheeled guns, one stated gun and eight cartridges seized in operation.
Everything was arrested from the area in and around Ranchi.
On January 27, five attackers, riding two bicycles, had opened fire on Lamba and the other two in Morhabadi.
The other two were identified as Raju Lamba and Subham Vishwakarma.
They immediately rushed to the Rajendra Medical Institute where they were said to be critical condition.
Police said that Gyan, Sandeep and Sonu were directly involved in a shootout while Ravish was the mastermind behind the crime and Bittu involved in the alleged land dispute with Lamba, who suffered a criminal anteceden, which caused his murder.
“We have information that the two groups try to seize control of a plot of land that lead to a shootout.
We are not in a position to divulge details again about this problem because two more accused in this case have not been arrested.
This can endanger our investigation,” Ranchi said SSP Surindra Kumar Jha.
