Ranchi: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Sunday criticized the St Morcha BJP National Work Committee on suspicion of silence on one of the old demands of the Tribal Jharkhand community – a separate religious code for Sarna.
Secretary General JMM Supriyo Bhattacharya questioned the BJP state leaders because they did not bring up a problem at the meeting even though the Jharkhand Assembly unanimously passed the resolution in November last year.
“The state assembly unanimously passes through the resolution in this matter and sends it to the center.
The Tribal Advisory Committee (TAC) also issued a resolution and sent it to the governor.
But BJP organized a meeting but did not talk about it,” Bhattacharya said.
JMM also questioned why the ruling Assam government, which is currently led by BJP, has been reluctant to adjust the status of the tribal scheduled to the migratory residential and migratory resident communities of Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Odisha centuries ago to work in tea plantations.
“On the one hand, the center wrote to the Supreme Court stating that it would not be able to do a caste-based census while on the other hand, it was talking about tribal rights.
This is a political double standard,” Bhattacharya said.
JMM also criticized the Minister of Tribal Union Arjun Munda for his claim that the ruling Jharkhand government did not lend his hand to the middle when the problem prepared ekal vidalayas in the blocked block.
“Jmm challenges it to give an example where such an incident happens,” Bhattacharya said.
