Dharwad: Cretrated Kannada Poet, Critics and Professor of Chalnavea Kanavi, whose poems talked about the simplicity of life and betraying the longing for rural idyll, died in Dharwad on Wednesday more than a month after he was treated in a private hospital after.
He is 93 years old.
When entering the hospital, he tested positive for Covid-19 and developed health complications and failed multi-organs.
Then, he uses a ventilator.
He breathed his last at 9.12am on Wednesday.
The remnants of mortal were taken to his residence in Kalyan Nagar, Dharwad, and then taken to the College campus Karnatak to the public to pay their last respect.

Kanavi’s first job – a collection of poetry – out when he was 21 years old.
He has published more than 55 books, including an essay collection and on literary criticism.
In addition to the award from the Central and State Sahita Academy, he was given a Pampa and Nadoja award in recognition of his contribution to literature.
His wife Shantadevi Kanavi is also a famous writer.
He died in 2020.
They have four sons and a girl.
The Chairperson of the Bukavaraj Minister Bommai said Kanavi “A Poet PAR EXCELLENCE” whose poetry promotes a positive approach to life and he is an inspiration for the generation of writers.
Former CM Jagadish Shettar said his death was a loss for Kannada literature.
Kanavi has recognized his debt to Karnatak College in Dharwad where he spent almost a third of his life as a student and employees.
“The creative atmosphere in Karnatak College and a beautiful natural environment from Dharwad inspired me to write poetry,” he said in an interview.
