Bengaluru: With the selection of assembly of 2023 in focus, the Head of the Head of Karnataka Baru Basavaraj Bommai is likely to choose five deputy ministers and appoint 6-8 new faces in his cabinet which can have a maximum of 34 members.
Minister Andhra Pradesh YS Jaganmohan Reddy is the first in this country to have a team of Jumbo CMS deputy team in 2019.
A senior BJP Privy official to discuss the formation of the cabinet said Deputy CMS would be selected from five main social groups – SCS, SCS, Vokaligas, Lingayats and OBC.
According to Senior BJP officials, the Lingayat-Brahmana Party will soon have the appeal of PAN-Hinduism for all communities because the party has struggled to cross the magical figure of 113 seats in the assembly poll since 2008.
By making the Bommai Minister of Chief, the party’s center leadership has maintained used CM BS Yediyurappa and happy lingayats.
Now, they want to ensure other communities – especially, the SC / SC group and the main among OBC – not ignored.
BJP experimented with two principal deputy ministers in Karnataka in 2012 when appointing KS Eshwarappa and R Ashoka after Yediyurappa resigned in alleged illegal mining cases.
In 2019, the party appointed three deputies to Yediyurappa, giving representation to Vokkaligas, Dalit and Lingayats.
“This time, the party is looking to identify five candidates with strong influences on their community and prepare the party for a wider community coalition in the 2023 election,” said a senior party official.
He said one of the three cm aspirant – Arvind Bellad, Botanda Yatnal or Murugesh Nirani, which is included in the subsecs of the Community of Lingayat Pancayasali – can be made by Deputy CM.
“The party still sees three or five CMS representatives, and there is no decision,” said the former CM Govind Karjol representative, a frontrunner under the quota Dalit.
Although it was almost certain that B Sriramulu from the Valmiki community would be a CM representative from STS, there was a dough between R Ashoka and CN Ashwath Narayan from the Vokcaliga community.
The source said the bommai could imitate the center model carrying fresh faces.
No less than eight new faces can be considered.
The decision can equate the prospect of 11 crossover legislators who are ministers under Yediyurappa.
