Haveri: The only Covid-19 patient at the Byadagi Hospital Taluk walked out on Wednesday after fully recovering, leaving the Haveri district without active cases.
Haveri is now a green zone, only the second district in Karnataka after Gadag, according to the Daily Health Bulletin and family welfare.
The first Covid-19 case in Haveri was reported on May 4, 2020, but in the following month, he had 21 patients, most migrants returned home from neighboring Maharashtra and other countries.
However, the second wave of pandemic is a completely different story of horror.
Within four months since February this year, the district reported more than 10,000 cases and deaths rose to 2.9%, the highest in the state.
The cases began to fall as the second wave of receding and the last positive case was reported on October 31 this year.
Now, all covid hospitals are appointed, covid care centers, and private hospitals that treat infected people do not have covid patients.
Sanjay Shettennavar, Deputy District Commissioner, and Dr.
HS Raghavendraswamy, district health workers, praised the efforts of all personnel in the district administration for helping to fight pandemics.
Shettennavar chose the efforts of the Department of Health and family and police welfare staff in the district.
“In the future, we must be more careful because we cannot predict what might happen.
However, we are ready to face challenges,” Shettennavar said.
Mohammad Roshan, CEO of Zilla Panchayat, said compliance with safety measures, strict monitoring of primary and secondary contacts, regular screening, and strict loud behavior among the reasons for the district struggle for pandemics.
“The first dose vaccination coverage has crossed more than 85% which also helped curb the spread of the Coronavirus novel in this district,” Roshan said.
“District people must also be rewarded for their cooperation all the challenging time.” Dr.
Ravi Malladad, President, Ima Haveri Unit, said immunity vaccination and herd is the main reason Haveri became a green zone again, but warned that prevention must be taken to avoid the third wave.
“District administration must start precautions such as mandate masks and maintain social distance in public places,” he said.
