Mangaluru: The Department of Forest official from the Subrahmanya range held a man on Tuesday, and grabbed meat from wild animals at his home in Bilinele Village.
The defendant who was arrested was Ramesh Valthaje, 45.
Subrahmanya Range Forest Officer (RFO) HT Raghavendra told TI based on the tip-off that the defendant had wild animal meat, and under the guidance of the vice conservator for forest conservator and ACF, a team raided home.
We have managed to capture around 1.5 kg of meat from wild animals, half cooked.
The defendant was produced in front of the court on Wednesday and returned in the custody of the judiciary.
To identify the animal, the department will send meat samples to the laboratory identification of meat species (MSIL) in Hyderabad.
However, it is thought to be a venison or sambar meat.
