Mangaluru: A man allegedly cheated by the tone of Rs 9.2 lakh, by criminals who claim that they have expensive liquids that will turn black money into white.
Rohidas, in complaints submitted at the Kavoor police station on Thursday, stated that he had advertised in Kannada every day on November 25 and 29 November last year, that a house he built was available for sale.
A week after the advertisement was published, he received a call from Nithin Raj Bengaluru and Dharanraj Vitla, stating that they worked for a real estate company in Bengaluru, and their boss was looking for a house in Mangaluru.
They decided to meet in Srirangapatna.
They told him that they had Rs 1.5 Crore with black money from politicians, where they would give him Rs 50 Lakh as a down payment.
They said they also had liquids that would turn black money into white.
This type of fraud is called fraud washing washing, where the people are trying to get money from the victims through fraud.
They make it look as if a paper bundle is a dyed currency note to avoid detection, which can be brought back to its original form if treated with certain chemicals.
In this case, supporters, after demonstrating, told Rohida that he could take a bag with money and liquid to his house, and turn the black money they gave him as a down payment, using fluids.
Dhanraj and complainants decide to travel together.
Bags with paper and liquid bundles are placed in the Dhanraj car boot.
After traveling for one kilometer, Dhanraj stopped the car and said that he heard a sound from boot.
He went down and told Rohidas that the bottle was empty, and immediately called Nithin.
Nithin reached the place and after scolding them at first, saying that it was an expensive liquid at a cost of Rs 25 Lakh.
Nitin said that if they both wanted the liquid, they had to issue Rs 15 Lakh and that he would arrange Rs 10 lakh.
Rohidas, mortgaged his jewelry and gave Rs 9.2 lakh in March this year for the same thing.
