Mangaluru: New policy for traffic and parking management in the city will be prepared by Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) immediately.
MCC Traffic Coordination Meeting, which was held on Monday in connection with Mangaluru Smart City Limited (MSCL) and city police discussed separate policy preparation for traffic and parking management in the city.
MCC Commissioner Akshy Sridhar said the meeting of all stakeholders would be held immediately and the policy would be ready for a month.
“We work with stakeholders to prepare comprehensive traffic, exclusive parking management policies for the city.
This will have clear policy guidelines related to traffic management, pay and parking facilities and other related problems.
After the policy is ready, mostly The existing problem will be completed.
In two weeks, a meeting will be held to complete the proposal, and the action plan to implement the policy will be ready in a month, “he said.
Executive engineers, income inspectors, junior engineers, and support staff will be used to streamline the traffic management system in the city.
A survey will be conducted to identify locations to regulate salary and park facilities in the city, he added.
Mayor Premanand Shetty said that traffic and parking policies were very important for the city, where residents had complained about various problems including the lack of parking lots, encroachment of pathways, and collection of illegal parking fees.
“We have expanded several roads, developing trails and providing several basic facilities for the city.
A committee has been prepared for traffic and parking management.
We have stopped salary and parking facilities in the city after various development work through MCC and MSCL began.
Pedestrian Safety is the main goal when doing development work, “he added.
