Bengaluru: The reconstitution of the Covid-19 task force has been postponed as a senior minister in the cabinet of the Bumavai Minister Bomavai jostling to lead panels, plum, news posts.
The task force, regulated by BS Yediyurappa during the second-19 covid-19 wave, was led by CN Ashwath Narayan, a ministerial deputy in the former CM cabinet.
However, when Bommai took over, the panel was dissolved.
Minister of the Minister (GOM) was formed to oversee Covid management – where Bommai was a member – also needed to be eradicated, but the minister’s chairman seemed to spend the time to rearrange the panel because he wants the right blend.
Bommai recently told reporters, “We will continue with the previous Covid-19 Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and there are expert committees led by Dr.
Devi Shetty to advise the government for the preparation of the third possible infection.
As far as the task unit and GOM Worried, we have not made a decision.
“However, while Narayan, who returned as minister for higher education, was looking to continue as head of the task force, Health Minister K Sudhakar wanted a post to be provided for him because the subject was related to his department.
Revenue Minister R Ashoka also targets such seniors like V Somanna.
Narayan risked the claim of posts based on track record in handling crises lacking drugs such as remdesivir and medical oxygen during the second wave.
“In addition to managing the crisis at its peak, we ensure preparedness in terms of infrastructure and medical personnel for the third wave,” Narayan said.
“I am ready to handle responsibility, but this is a prerogative of CM.” Sudhakar said: “At present, all Covid’s related decisions are being taken at a cabinet meeting where all ministers say.
However, CM will make a decision about whether the task force committee is needed.” The source said the Bommai played with the idea towards the panel itself to avoid bad blood in circles minister.
During the first wave, the previous regime had witnessed the bitter competition between Health Minister B Sriramulu and Sudhakar, who was the Minister of Medical Education.
Yediyurappa was finally forced to replace Sriramulu with Sudhakar but it was only a matter of being deposited.
The same competition between Narayan and Ashoka forced BOMMAI to maintain the Bengaluru’s development portfolio and the minister responsible for the capital city.
Experts say ideally, cm should not maintain the responsibility of the task force because it needs full attention.
“The pandemic is under control now, but it is better if the full task force is well arranged in front of a possible new surge,” said Girest Matennavar, who led the citizen aid table during the second wave.
