Hubballi: A housewife from the village of Managundi in the Dharwad district has begun “multi-day marathon” to create awareness among people in the eyes and blood donors.
Drakshayani Patil, who was running since two weeks from his village, is expected to reach Puneeth Rajkumar Memorial in Bengaluru on Tuesday.
He plans to close 500 km in 15 days by running 40 km every day (marathon distance is 42km).
Drakshayani’s husband, Umesh Patil, and their three children trailed amateur runners in supporting vehicles.
But to take part in athletics during school and college, Drakshayani does not have formal training in running.
By running, puneeth fans who are eager to create awareness of eye donors and blood.
He got a good response from people on the way.
Some villagers have also provided his help on the road.
Umesh said their whole family admired Puneeth.
“My wife, becoming a hard fan, runs 500 km from our village to a warning in Bengaluru.
He is a good athlete during school and college days.
Even though he has stopped running after marriage, he has continued now a cause.
We Glad to support it in this case, “he added.
Drakshayani said: “I tried a lot to meet PunkuPh Rajkumar when he was in Dharwad to shoot the film, but in vain.
His contribution to the donation was very large.
I did a little for this purpose.”
