MySuru: Volunteers from the initiative of Cauvery Calling Calling Caugery Isha said that tree-based agriculture on private farms in the Cauvery River Basin received a good response in the MySore district.
This initiative has been carried out to promote the ecological movements driven by farmers.
“At 23 grams of Panchayats from the district, around 700 farmers have shown interest,” said T Thirthan, a volunteer.
He told the media here on Wednesday that the drive was taken at nine Cauvery Basin County, including MySuru, Kodagu, rural Bengaluru, Chikkamagaluru, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Mandya, Ramanagar, and Tumaku.
This encouragement was launched under Aegis Sadhguru, the Isha and Isha Foundation, in collaboration with the Rural and Panchayat Development Department, Forest, Horticulture, and Seremulture.
A total of 1,800 events to create awareness about this problem were carried out.
Events are being held in every gram of Panchayat, district headquarters, and the headquarters of Taluk in Cauvery Basin, in relation to Zilla Panchayat.
“We appoint a tree of trees, or MARA partners for every two GPS.
Tree-based agriculture will help farmers, which have been proven.
There are some success stories,” he said.
“The Cauvery River flows for six months a year.
The only solution to make the river flow around this year is planting more trees.
The drive is being implemented under Sadhguru’s guidance,” he added.
