Mangaluru: With hundreds of people from Kasaragod and other northern districts in Kerala denied going into Dakshina Kannada without negative reports of RT-PCR, Kasaragod administration had advanced with solutions to support inter-country commuter.
Kasaragod District Administration has made arrangements through a private lab to open cellular testing facilities in Talapady.
A Kasaragod Information Department official told Tii The Lab opened in Talapady on Tuesday for the convenience of people from Casilagod and other districts in Kerala who were in desperate need to visit Dakshina Kannada.
The RT-PCR mobile testing unit placed on the Kerala border – Karnataka in Talapady will conduct a free test for Kerala people.
The lab will provide a report at the start and those who test negatively can continue to Dakshina Kannada with the report, the official said.
While the covid-19 participant level from Kasaragod Regency was 11.8% on Monday, it was 3.6% in Dakshina Kannada.
The number of cases is also high in Kasaragod compared to Kannada Dakshina.
Therefore, Dakshina Kannada District Administration has made the RT-PCR negative certificate for all to enter the district based on the Government’s Guidance of Karnataka.
Only students and those traveling for emergencies are allowed to enter Karnataka without RT-PCR negative reports.
Initially, Dosshina Kannada Health Department conducted a RT-PCR test for commuters between states from Kerala in Talapady.
However, from Tuesday, the test center stopped functions to place responsibility for the Kasaragod Regency administration to make the necessary settings.
Karnataka Adgp (Law & Order) Ch Pratap Reddy, who visited Talapady on Tuesday, said there would be no RT-PCR center on the interstate border.
“The administration of Kasaragod Regency and border districts between Kerala states have been asked to make the necessary arrangements for their citizens.
We have directed them to advise people to travel to Karnataka with RT-PCR negative reports.
It is the responsibility of administration and police in neighboring districts To make the settings needed, “Reddy said.
