Thiruvananthapuram: Details of voters from the Chief Electoral Officer Database (CEO) leaked and published in the media, officials said at the CEO Office to Crime Branch (CB) Sleuths investigated this problem.
The CB team was led by SP (crime) of a Shanava, was investigating the problem after CEO Teak Ram Meena filed a petition to the police said that the details were leaked and used by opposition leaders to make accusations of voter duplication on a profitable front list.
CB Sleuggers have visited the CEO office on Thursday and recorded CEO’s statements and other officials, including CEOs together.
Officials told the CB team that leaky people were in the same format saved in the CEO office database and not circulating among political parties.
On the basis of their statement, the CB team took a laptop and desktop at the CEO office to detention.
This will now be sent for forensic examination with court permission.
On Thursday, Meena said that the Commission had ended the contract with Keltron for the issue of leakage voter list.
He has said that all data in this case was handled by Keltron and the Election Commission had investigated when the allegations of voter duplication emerged during the previous assembly selection.
The decision to end the agreement with Keltron was taken on the basis of commission instructions, he said.
At that time Chennithala with the support of the voter list had alleged that nearly 4.34 lakh duplicate voters, but the Commission has denied this and said there were only around 38,000 double entries, normal during the election, and the same improved.
