Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has decided to update Covid-19 death data based on the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health Union, Health Minister Veena George said on Thursday.
George said detailed guidelines to classify Covid-19 as the cause of death will also be released soon.
George said the steps to update their list of those who surrendered to Covid-19 had been taken and that the new list would not leave a decent person.
This center has stated that those who tested negatively but died of post-covid complications within 30 days of positive testing, will be counted as Covid’s death.
George said the government intends to publish a comprehensive Covid-19 death list that occurs in the state since the plague of pandemic.
All steps will be taken to ensure that there is no foundation for complaints, he said when indicated on charges that some deaths have not been included in the list of countries.
Since the complaint has been submitted about leaving several deaths from Covid’s death data, the State Health Department has searched for them and steps taken to overcome complaints, minister said.
The Ministry of Health has received severe criticism after the data received under RTI shows a difference that spreads widely in Covid deaths reported from the country.
According to information received from the local government agency under RTI published in Toi, nearly 7,000 deaths have not been included in the list issued by the State Health Department.
Even opposition leader VD Sathheeshan has quoted data in the assembly on July 27 when he accused that there was a big difference between the actual number of Covid-19 deaths and official deaths released by the state government.
Furthermore, the state government, on July 2, has announced that it will release more detailed Covid-19 deaths, but it hasn’t done so.
It was the state death audit committee that determined Covid-19 death.
The government has claimed that it was formed in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Council of India for medical research.
But when the system is under criticism, the new procedure is introduced where Covid-19 death is expressed at the district level and then at the state level.
