Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala on Wednesday reported 4,006 new infections and 282 deaths, which took cooperatives to 51,92,593 and the death toll became 43,626.
Of 282 deaths, 125 were recorded over the past few days and 157 were appointed as Covid-19 deaths after receiving an appeal based on the new central guidelines and the direction of the Supreme Court, said the release of the state government.
With 3,898 more people recovered from viruses since Tuesday, total recovery reached 51.24,899 and active cases fell to 35,234, he said.
A total of 65,704 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
Among the 14 districts, Thiruvananthapuram recorded the highest with 830 new cases, followed by Ernakulam (598) and Kozhikode (372).
From new cases, 35 were health workers, 14 from outside the country and 3,750 were infected through contact with the source unclear in 207.
At present there are 1,49,628 people under supervision in various districts, including 1,45,536 in the quarantine of the house or institutional and 4,092 in the hospital, the release said.
