Thiruvananthapuram: Contrary to the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan claimed that Governor Arif Mohammed Khan was never included in the political pressure by the government to the problems of the university, has now been revealed that the Minister of Higher Education R Bindu has written two letters to Khan, recommend the appointment of Vice-Chancellor of the University Kannur Gopinath Ravindran for a second term.
The second letter was dated November 22, the day before the first VC will expire.
“As a pro-chancellor University of Kannur, I consider it a privilege to propose the name of Dr.
Gopinath Raveendran, currently vice chancellor for appointment as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kannur for a second continuous term, ranging from 24-11 -2021,” the letter said.
In the first letter, the Minister make a complicated argument why the vice chancellor should be given a second term and seeking permits the governor to rescind the notice issued on 10/27/2021 appoint a search committee cum-selection to identify a person for the post.

Minister painstakingly lists the Vice Chancellor of the ruling contribution, helping the university to scale new heights, but its name is misspelled as Gopinath Raveendran in two letters signed by him.
There were rumors that the minister hastily took the matter back to the Chancellor’s appointment at the last minute to avoid aging which can fight Gopinath Ravindran if his name is routed through the search committee.
Checked that the government representatives had argued before the governor that the reappointment can be considered an extension of the service, where age at the time of the first appointment the candidate will gain traction.
Governor issued an order to reappear Gopinath Ravindran as Vice-Chancellor of Kannur University for four years on Nov.
23, a day after the government canceled – with the approval of the governor – a notice inviting applications for the post.
In a brief communication provided to the media, the governor’s office said the reappointment was done under the Kannur University Regulations, 1996 and UGC, 2018.
