Thiruvananthapuram: An Septuagenarian, who was paralyzed and lay in bed for the past 15 years, was dead at his home with a gap of his throat on Tuesday.
The police suspected it was the murder carried out by his wife, which they found in an unconscious country behind the house.
The police have also recovered a kitchen knife allegedly a murder weapon.
JNANADAS, 74, from ‘Rohini’ House, Vallichira in Anavoor Village is the deceased.
His wife, Sumathi, around 70, is a suspect in this case.
He is currently in treatment at Medical College Hospital under the supervision of the police.
According to the police, Jnanadas was found dead by his son Sunil Das on Tuesday morning around 9 in the morning.
Jnanadas and Sumathi have lived in a single room home close to their son’s home for the past five days.
They used to live with their daughter, Sunitha, who lived in Tamil Nadu.
They recently came to Marayamuttom.
Sunil Das told the police that he visited his parents in the morning and helped his father wash his body.
He then returned around 9am with breakfast and saw Jnanadas lying in a pool of blood.
He raised an alarm after which neighbors rushed in and began to look for sumathi.
They found him lying faint among banana kings behind the house.
Suspecting that he might have consumed poison, they rushed to the hospital.
However, the police said he was not poisoned.
The sources in the police said that after regaining Awareness of Sumheri told the doctor that he slitted her husband’s throat.
The police have not recorded his statement.
