Kochi: Kerala registered 7,555 new cases Covid-19 and 74 related deaths on Sundays took the total affected in the country to 48.45.115 and tolls to 26,865.
State Minister Veena George said 73,157 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and there were 211 wards in 158 local government agencies with a weekly infection population ratio of more than 10 percent.
Among the districts, Thrissur reported the number of Covid-19 cases the highest on Sunday – 998, followed by the neighboring Ernakulam with 975 cases and Thiruvananthapuram with 953 cases.
“At present there are 87,593 Covid-19 cases are active in a state of only 10 percent received at the hospital,” Minister said in the release.
George told those found infected today, 44 reached the country from outside the interim 7.162 contracted disease through their contacts.
The source of 278 infection has not been traced.
Seventy-one health workers are also infected.
There were 3,11,361 people under observation in the state 10,205 were in the isolation route from various hospitals.
Meanwhile, 10,773 people were restored from disease on Sunday took a total of recovery in the country to 47.39 lakh.
The minister also said that 93.8 percent (2.50,78,552) from the targeted population had been vaccinated with the first dose while 45.5 percent (1,21,69,186) received the second dose as well.
