Kolkata: Civic Body’s Covishield Vaccination Clinic and Mega Centers are now left with stock to last only one more day.
Thus, the Department of Health Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) on Wednesday decided to maintain a clinic of 102 Covishield and 50 Mega Centers open on Thursday.
Whether these clinics and centers will be able to manage the dose of covishield from Friday will depend on the arrival of fresh shares, said the KMC Health Office officials related to drive vaccination.
“The lack of vaccines has forced us to operate everyday.
During the past week, we have run our covishield centers in the midst of the supply crisis.
Crunch was very acute so he needed to keep vaccination clinics and the center closed for several days.
The situation has increased , but we do not have adequate covishield stocks that can feed all our clinics and centers for more than one day, “said a citizenship official.
The KMC health department requires 30,000-35,000 doses of covishield every day to feed 102 clinics and 50 mega centers.
The Chairman of the KMC Administrator Board, Firhad Judge, has suggested the Civic Body Health Department to establish a buffer supply of 1 dose of Lakh Covishield to feed the clinic for more than three days if the new crisis touches the KMC vaccination drive.
“I have taken this problem with the State Health Department official.
But I understand that there is a scarcity of vaccines throughout the state.
This center failed to keep his promise to send the vaccine needed to Bengal to run our vaccination program without interruption,” said the judge.
According to KMC sources, the Civic body has enough covaxin stock for clinics until the weekend.
KMC has 38 covaxin clinics and several mega centers in 144 wards.
