Kolkata: The safe house and the Quarantine Center will be reopened by Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC).
A decision has also been taken to keep the ambulance fleet and van car bodies ready after a steady increase in the Covid case in the city.
Kuningan Civic on Friday held an urgent meeting to write a strategy to check the spread in transmission.
Civil authorities decided to continue the drive of sanitization throughout the city.
For now, KMC has decided to reopen the Quarantine Center at Champamoni’s maternity house and two secure houses – one in a commercial building located near Science City and others in Cossipore.
A safe emergency home in Cossipore will provide protection to infected children and their mothers.
According to a KMC health department official, special attention is given to the health of children in the area where there is an increase in Covid cases.
“Even though the infection rate among children is not high, we cannot take risks.
We have asked our tele-caller to record the condition of children in the household where one or more members have been tested positive for Covid,” said an official Civil health.
According to civilian sources, the KMC health department can also change Uttirno, a state-owned building in Alipore, a safe house for their children and mothers.
This is separate, the KMC will intensify Covid tests at the urban primary health clinic.
According to a KMC medical officer, the majority of residents who are testing the positive position of the asymptomatic group.
“This trend calls for more people to do the RT-PCR test that we collect from 33 urban primary health centers in all cities,” said the medical officer.
At present no more than 20 people queue in KMC swab collection centers.
