JOHANNESBURG: India Captain Virat Kohli on Monday ruled out the second test against South Africa here before starting the game because of the upper back spasm, leaving KL Rahul to lead a very important team.
Rahul said on the throw that Kohli is expected to be available for the third and final test from January 11.
“Unfortunately, Virat has a spasm for upper back.
Fisio is working on it and hopefully he will recover in time for the next test,” Rahul said in a throw when asked about Kohli’s absence from the match.
Hanuma Vihari All-rounder has come in playing XI to replace Kohli.
Jasprit Bumrah has been crowned the captain’s deputy for the second test.
Shreyas Iyer was ruled out from the selection due to stomach bugs.
