Kolkata: Even when the city was shocked by a storm on Tuesday afternoon, the Met office predicted light for moderate rain at Mahaya – to be observed on Wednesday.
Because Monsoon’s current is still active throughout the state, the storm will continue.
The rain on Tuesday was heavier in the northern and suburban even when South Kolkata received a drizzle.
A low pressure trough between Bihar and Odisha and Cyclone circulation of Malda caused thunderstorms in the city and several South Bengal Regency, said the regional meteorology center (RMC).
“The two systems supply moisture to the region.
As long as they remain active, the storm and rain will continue,” said Director of RMC GK Das.
The weather can change from the second half of Thursday.

But sporadic rain can’t rule until the rainy season,” said the watershed.
Kolkata has received almost double the volume of normal rain – 96% above the normal sign – in September even when Bengal Gangetic has recorded 31% of excessive rain.
