‘Krishigramam’ to reclaim rice farms

Thiruvananthapuram: Anacode Village of Poovachal Graduarchayath prepares to revive agricultural heritage which is proud of launching a rice farm in 50 cents.
The village that once contributed about 40% of the total rice cultivated in Trivandrum was once known as ‘Kristigramamam Poovachal Panchayath’.
People from various places are used to come to the village to buy plants.
Over the years PADI gave roads to bananas and other vegetables.
Now, an organization called Nanma (Movement and Affected Mulia Association) is the top of the leadership will arouse rice cultivation in the village.
Pradeep, a member of Nanma, along with six other farmers has started rice planting in the village, and plans to foster traditional Kerala Paddy ‘Chennellu’.
Previously, land for rice farms was used to grow vegetables and banana plants.
Mark the initial field awakening hijacked on September 6 to turn it into land suitable for rice cultivation.
Biju Kumar Pottayil, the owner of the land where now rice is being cultivated, has promised that he will continue to provide land for rice cultivation.
“There is a lot of rice fields in Kerala, but no one farming traditional varieties.
I try to reclaim our heritage.
We hope the rice farm will spread to all parts of Kerala.
Let the next generation witness our rich heritage,” said Pradeep.
