Coimbatore: Kerala Based Congress Party of KSBA Thangal Detained by Central Personnel Industrial Security Force (CISF) at Coimbatore International Airport to have a Revolver with seven Live Rounds.
He was handed over to the Peellamedu police for further investigation.
The police confiscated a revolver .22mm and seven bullets from him.
Revolver is not in a condition that can be used.
Thangal does not have valid documents for weapons.
According to sources, Thangal, who is the former Chair of the Kotamadya Pattambi in Kerala, will travel to Bengalaru from Coimbatore International Airport in Indigo flights on Tuesday morning.
From there, he will travel to Amritsar in Punjab.
The airline staff scan his luggage and found a revolver with seven live rounds.
They told CISF personnel who picked him up for further investigation.
Initially, Thangal told the officials that he did not realize the revolver in his trunk.
Thangal told the police that he had served as the Secretary of the International School of Mes in Pattambi for more than 15 years.
He will go to Amritsar to buy a uniform for school students.
Further investigation is taking place.
