Bengaluru: Minister of Agriculture BC Patil on Friday said the government plans to provide subsidies of rs 20 per liter on diesel and gasoline used by farmers for agricultural purposes.
With diesel prices violated a three-digit mark and gasoline rates floated around Rs 110 in Karnataka, the BJP government was under pressure to bring it below Rs 100 per liter.
Patil, spoke at an event at Chitradurga, said he would discuss the subsidy plan with the main minister of Basavaraj Bommai immediately.
“Farmers face many difficulties and provide subsidies will help them a little,” Minister said.
Patil first expressed the idea – 25 per liter of subsidies on diesel for farmers who had up to 10 hectares of land – before the 2021-22 budget was presented by Yediyurappa.
It is estimated at the fuel subsidy line given to fishermen in the state.
